I shared a similar article about making insulating curtains the other week which did really well, but after I read through the tutorial I am sharing with you today I think these would be a better project to make.
The benefits offered by theses curtains are as follows:
-They lower heat losses through windows by 50 to 70%, and improve comfort by eliminating cold spots and drafts in rooms. In the first test homes fitted with Kume curtains, heating fuel consumption dropped by 25%.
-They are inexpensive. The cost of the materials that are needed to make a Kume curtain typically ranges from US$ 1 to 1.5 per square foot.
-They are easy to make. Putting together a Kume curtain does not require great manual skills or much time. For example, assembling a 2×4 ft curtain takes less than two hours. The hardest part of making the curtains is cutting the panels straight and to size. If you use polar fleece for the panels, you don´t even need to hem the fabric, and the whole curtain can be assembled without a single stitch.
Check out the tutorial and let me know if you make some. They actually look quite modern and would fit in any style house. But. Lets be honest, if they save you money who cares what they look like.
